Cary Academy seeks a leader to serve as Head of Middle School, who will lead a dynamic group of 42 educators dedicated to serving the unique needs of 310 middle school-aged students in grades 6-8, and foster a professional culture of self-reflection, growth, and passionate pursuit of our mission.

The Head of Middle School will play a lead role in implementing the school’s new five-year strategic plan. This includes shifting toward competency-based learning and reporting for Middle School students, strengthening the identity development and experiential learning components of the Middle School program, and reimagining the daily schedule and academic calendar in the Middle School to advance deeper learning in a context of healthy balance. The Head of Middle School will also be an essential partner in the equity and anti-racism work of the school.

Middle School German Teacher

We are seeking an accomplished, imaginative, team-oriented and adventurous world language educator to teach German classes to students in grades 6-8. Cary Academy offers an innovative, proficiency-based curriculum in German, French, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese that is designed to help students build communication skills in a new language while at the same time developing an understanding of and appreciation for the cultures surrounding the language. Classes are conducted in the target language and are highly interactive and communicative, with cultural content that is relevant to the age group being taught. A highlight of the world language curriculum is an international exchange program in the tenth grade. This experience greatly enhances students’ cultural understanding and improves their language proficiency.

CA Fund Director

The CA Fund Director manages Cary Academy’s comprehensive annual giving program with primary responsibility for strategic planning, implementation, and execution. The Director develops and executes a coordinated matrix of communication and solicitation strategies involving e-mails, direct mail, phone, personal visitation, and volunteer engagement focused on shaping a sustainable tradition of annual support for the CA Fund. The Director provides strategic direction and pipeline-building insight in the context of growing the annual giving program while supporting the greater development and campaign priorities set forth by the Head of School and Director of Development.
